Pauline Dorothy Cavitt Young
Pauline Dorothy Cavitt Young passed on Jan. 2 of natural causes. Pauline was a long-time resident of Portland. She was 86 and living in Bend.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, in Savage Memorial Presbyterian Church; S.E 139th and Mill in Portland.
Pauline was born in Vancouver to Richard and Rita Cavitt. As quoted from a Portland newspaper on Jan. 31, 1937, “…This pretty Camas high school cheer leader, will preside over the Silver Star ski tournament on Mount Hood…”.
She graduated with the class of ’37.
Pauline married Clyde Young in 1942. They op0erated grocery stores in the Portland metro area, notably Young’s Foods/Big Dollar Shopping Center on S.E. 162nd and Division. After their marriage dissolved, and with her challenge of raising six children, Pauline obtained her real estate license and started a career at Stan Wiley. Pauline was active with the Portland Board of Realtors and secretary of the Million Dollar Club. To her credit, Pauline became the first Personalized Auto Saleswoman on the West Coast while working a brief stint with Ed Randall Chevytown. In addition to skiing and dancing, Pauline enjoyed a lifetime of golf and friends at Riverside, Rose City and other golf clubs.
Pauline is survived by daughters, Cathy Joerger of Portland and Kimberly Young of Bend; sons Todd of Lincoln City, Collyer of Gresham, Blain of Portland and Randall of Battleground, Wash.; 14 grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.
