Sarah
Pyland Blair, pioneer of 1873, died yesterday at the family residence, 1452 Blair Street.
Funeral
services are to be held at 10 o’clock this morning from Knapp’s undertaking
parlors, Vancouver. Interment will be at Fern Prairie, Wash., where the family
formerly lived.
Born
in Marshall county, Tennessee,
in 1843, Sarah Blair removed to Missouri with her parents in 1851. At the age of
21 she married Jasper Blair, who survives her.
They came west in 1873, settling in Washington.
Twelve years ago they moved to Portland,
where they have since resided.
Left
to mourn the death are three sons, H. F. Blair and G. H. Blair of this city and
Dr. J. B. Blair of Vancouver, and two daughters,
Mrs. M. L. Lafferty and Mrs. T. B. Gillihan, both of Portland.

FAMILY PIONEER DIES

P. Blair Had Resided on Coast Since 1873
Sarah
P. Blair, mother of Hoyt F. Blair and Dr. J. D. Blair, of Vancouver, and a
resident of the Pacific coast since 1873, died Saturday night at her home, 1452 Fern street, Portland. She was 76 years of age and besides her two
sons in this city, is survived by her husband, Joseph M., and a son, G. H., of Gaston, Ore.;
two daughters, Mrs. M. L. Lafferty, Portland, and Mrs. T. B. Gilliham,
Washougal; two brothers and two sisters, one of whom being Mrs. Emeline
Galbreath, of Portland; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mrs.
and Mrs. Blair were married in Missouri in 1864, coming to the coast with their family in 1873, and the deceased has
resided in Clarke county many years. She
was a member of East Portland Methodist church and a charter member of Gordon
Granger lodge, W. R. C. Rev. W. E. Kloster,
of Portland,
officiated at the funeral and the body was interred in the family plot at Fern
Prairie.
