Ruth Lucille Brockus
Ruth Lucille Brockus died of heart failure Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in Portland. She was 81.
Born Feb. 19, 1918, in Anniston, Mo., her maiden name was Jenkins. The Retired nurses aide, who was previously employed at Hillhaven Rehabilitation Center, was a 30-year Vancouver resident. She enjoyed reading the newspaper and magazines, watching the news, knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn J. May of Portland and Glenda M. Brockus of Saint Joseph, Mo.; sons, John L. Brockus of Rialto, Calif., and Norman D. Brockus of Camas; sisters, Nancy Jenkins of Collinsville, Ill., Pat Jenkins of East Prairie, Mo., and Beatrice Miller of East Prairie; brothers, Ray Jenkins of Ontario, Calif., Tommy Jenkins of East Prairie, and Gary Jenkins of San Dimas, Calif.; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ernest Brockus, who died in 1953; two daughters, Goldia Ruth Burton and Norma Jean Brockus; two sons, Ernest Ray Brockus and Freddy Lee Brockus; two granddaughters, Rhoda “Missy” Anderson and Bonnie Brockus; and grandson, Bruce Brockus.
A funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 22, in Camas. Brown\\\'s Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
