Mrs. Lydia Cavitt Dies at Her Home in Paradise

Mrs. Lydia Cavitt, one of the early settlers in this part of the county, died at her home in Paradise on Wednesday afternoon at 5 o’clock.  She was born July 7, 1818, in Cooley County, Illinois, and crossed the plains with her parents at the age of five years, settling in California.  Forty years ago she came to this county and has resided here ever since.

Eleven children, six of whom are alive, were born to the deceased.  Those who survive are: Mrs. Hulda Wilson, Mrs. Hazel Odoms, J. H., Arthur, Ben and Richard Cavitt.

Mrs. Cavitt’s death causes a void in the community that will not soon be filled and the sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved ones in their affliction.
