Richard Herbert Cavitt
Retired Crown Zellerbach employee, Richard H. Cavitt, 77, of Rt1, Box 44, Brush Prairie, died Fri., Jan. 31, in a Portland hospital.
Services were to be held Wed., Feb 5, 11 a.m., at Stoller Memorial Chapel with Pastor Duane Corwin officiating. Interment was to be in Fern Prairie cemetery.
Born in the Ireland District on Jan., 21, 1892, he had lived his entire lifetime in the Camas-Washougal area. A former Chipper Plant foreman, he had worked in the paper mill for 29 years. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Vancouver, the 25 year club, the Golden Crown club, both of Camas and the Fern Prairie Old Timers Club.
Survivors are his wife Edna Cavitt; four daughters, Mrs. Wilma Haskins, Camas, Mrs. Pauline Young and Mrs. Lauretta Johnson, both of Portland, and Mrs. Agnes Heiser of Vancouver; the mother of the four daughters, Mrs. Reta Cavitt of Vancouver; stepson Ralph Chubb, Milwaukie, Ore.; stepdaughter, Ruby Chubb, at home; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Hazel Odoms of Oakland, Cal.
