Mrs. Laurette Cook
Passes Away
Last Friday evening at St. Joseph’s hospital in Vancouver, occurred the death of Mrs.
Laurette Cook, after a lingering illness of many months from carcinoma of the
liver. She had been at the hospital the
last time for about three weeks.
Deceased was born in Missouri and passed her
65th anniversary date last February.
For many years, however she had resided in Clarke county, and for some
time past made her home with her brother, Pinkney Blair of this city.
She is survived by four sons,
Oliver Cook of Missouri; Isom Cook of Vancouver; George Cook, of Kansas,
and Walter Cook of Ridgefield; a daughter, Mrs.
Lela Eaton, lives near Vancouver. Besides Pinkney Blair of this city, there are
two other brothers, Joseph Blair of Portland and
Dr. H. Blair of Tacoma, and a sister, Mrs.
Ruphina Davis of Vancouver.
The funeral services were held on
Sunday from Knapp’s chapel in Vancouver. Rev. D. A. Storey of this city, pastor of the
M. E. church of which the deceased was a devoted member, officiating. Interment was in Fern Prairie Cemetery.
