Obituary
Emma DeTemple
Emma DeTemple, age 94, died Friday, May 22 following a long illness. She was born May 26, 1886 at Dufur, Ore. And had been a resident here since 1922, residing at 1919 N.E. 232nd Ave.
She was a former school teacher, and taught in one-room schoolhouses in Glenwood, Goldendale, Toppenish and others in these vicinities for 15 years until her marriage to her late husband, Frank, on October 19, 1919 in Seattle. He died on February 26, 1956. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Camas, the Fern Prairie Grange and was a 75-year member of the Leah Rebekah Lodge in Goldendale.
She is survived by two sons; Frank and Charles DeTemple, both of Camas; two daughters, Marie Norton of Camas and Lucille Brown of Eureka, Calif., six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held today, May 26 (this would have been her 95th birthday) at 2 p.m. at Straub’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Lowell Erickson officiating. Vault interment followed at the Fern Prairie Cemetery.
