Obituary
DORIS DEWAR
Nov. 23, 1923 ~ April 30, 2008- Doris Dewar, resident of Vancouver, WA, passed away on April 30, 2008 at the age of 84.
She was born in Kansas but lived in the Clark County area for over 60 years.
During the war she worked in the shipyards and volunteered with the USO throughout the NW.
She married Hal Walker in 1943 in Vancouver, Washington and together they had 5 children; Tim Walker of Washougal, WA, Darsein Shull of Vancouver, Ned Walker of Ridgefield, WA, Terri Fuller of Washougal and the late Clint Walker of Issaquah.
She later married Robert Dewar who preceded her in death. For many years she was active in the Amvets Auxiliary. She retired from Bonneville Power and quite often spent winters in Yuma, Arizona. Known to many as Granny, her hobbies and pleasures included fishing, crocheting, gardening and family and she enjoyed every one of them to the end. During the summer she could often be found on one of her sons fishing boats on the ocean. Whether it was fishing with her sons, going to the bookstore with her granddaughter, driving to the beach or just visiting friends and family, staying active was what she enjoyed most. She loved family gatherings that almost always included 30 or more. \"A true love of life and all that it offered best describes her. Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Friend, she will be missed by all.\"
Doris is survived by four children; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. A private graveside service will follow. Donations may be mailed to Share, 1708 Main St., Vancouver, WA
