Obituary
John
Michael Dunn
Again the grim messenger has taken toll from the depleting ranks of local pioneers whose hands have done much to develop this section. After a period of several months of more or less impaired health, John Dunn, whose friends were limited only by the extent of his acquaintances, died at his home east of the Lacamas last Monday morning, aged 69 years, 10 months and 25 days. He was one of the sturdiest of our pioneers, having spent 50 years of his life in and near Camas.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10 o’clock at the Catholic Church. He was laid to rest in the Fern Prairie cemetery, near the old farm home where he had spent so many of the active years of his life in developing.
John Michael Dunn was born in Montreal, Canada, August 15, 1856. He came to Portland, arriving July 31, 1874, and settled at Powell\\\'’ Valley. Two years later, in 1876, he came to Camas where he took up a homestead near Fern Prairie and where he continued to reside until a few years ago. March 31, 1883 he was married to Lillian Wolfe, who preceded him in death a year or so ago.
Nine children survive, James Dunn, of LaCenter; Edna and Jessie Adams of North Portland; Wesley E. Dunn of Gearhart, Ore., Lila Levens of Long Beach, Cal., Lillian Schultz of Vancouver; John, Roy and Harold Dunn of Camas; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Bessett of Portland, ten grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
