ObituaryRichard “Dick”
Lee Gran
Richard “Dick” Lee Gran
died Feb. 19, 1998, in Camas. He was
73. Gran was born May 2, 1924, in Sandwich, Ill.,
and was a 17-year resident of Camas. He
worked as an electrician at Furnace electric and was a maintenance supervisor
at the Love Brothers Industry in Illinois. He also owned and operated the Amarillo Motel
in Colorado Springs, Colo., for 16 years. Gran served in the U.S. Army first special
brigade in Europe during World War II at the Battle of the Bulge.
He invented tools and
equipment for his own use over the years and also liked to work on cars.
He is survived by his wife,
Joan Gran at home in Camas; mother, Mary Gran of Yorkville, Ill.; daughters,
Carole Hollingsworth and Debra McClure, both of Camas; brother, John Gran of
Ovilla, Texas; sister, Mary Jane Walseth of Waxahachie, Texas; four
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held
Feb. 21 at Brown’s Chapel of Roses. Interment followed at Fern Prairie Cemtery in Camas. Memorials may be made to Sudden Infant Death
Syndrome or Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Brown’s Funeral Home was in care of the arrangements.
