ObituaryPhillip T. Hammill
CAMAS – A retired millwright, Phillip T. Hammill,
died in Vancouver Tuesday, Jan. 25, 1994 of Lou Gehrig’s disease. Mr. Hammill,
68, a Camas resident since 1975, had worked at Sivyer Steel Corp. in Iowa for about 30 years.
Mr. Hammill, an air Force
veteran, was born May 16,
1925, in Savanna, Ill.,
and was a retired member of the United Automobile, Aerospace and Agriculture
Implement Workers of America. He was a
member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camas, American Legion Post 347 in Iowa and the Pilgrims of
St. Michael.
He is survived by one daughter,
Janet R. Sabel of Davenport, Iowa; two sons, Phillip T. Hammill Jr. of
Washougal and Jim Hammill of Camas; one brother, Paul Hammill of Davenport;
seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A vigil service will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday at St. Thomas
Catholic Church in Camas. A Funeral Mass
will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, followed by burial in Fern Prairie Cemetery in Camas.
Straub’s Funeral Home in Camas is
in charge of arrangements.
