Darlene Hancock

 A funeral for long-time Camas resident Darlene Hancock will be held Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 1 p.m. at the Camas United Methodist Church.  She died Aug. 4, 1990.

Hancock was born January 26, 1933, in Colfax, Wash.  She moved to Camas when she was about 13 years old, and graduated from Camas High School in 1951.  She worked for General Telephone for 28 years, retiring as a coin telephone supervisor.

She was a past president of the Camas-Washougal Chamber of Commerce, serving from 1986 to 1987.  She was also a member of the Camas United Methodist Church, the Soroptomist Club and Independent Telephone Pioneers.

Hancock is survived by her husband, Richard, at home in Camas; sons, Raymond of Camas and Douglas of Washougal; daughter, Pam Vrieswyk of Amboy; mother, Alice Schultz of Camas; and four grandchildren.

The casket will be open at Straub’s Funeral Home until 9 p.m.  Tuesday, and until 11 a.m. Wednesday.  Vault interment in Fern Prairie Cemetery will follow the funeral.
