ObituaryRICHARD EVERETT HANCOCK Richard Hancock, of Camas, passed
away on March 2, 2011 in Vancouver at the age of 80. He was born on April 26,
1930 in Clarkston, WA. He moved to Camas when he was 2 or 3 years old and
lived the rest of his life here. Richard joined the Army and served from 1950
to 1952. When he returned he worked for Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill and retired
after 36 years. Richard was active in the community being a member of the
Camas Moose, Lions, Elks and V.F.W. He was also a Little League Coach and a
4-H Leader. He enjoyed spending time at the beach clamming and also hunting
and fishing in his younger days. He loved to grow his garden and take care of
his rose bushes. He also enjoyed canning food. Richard had a granddaughter
(Jennifer) and a great grandson (Max) who were born on his birthday. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Darlene Hancock. Survivors include his sons, Raymond of Camas and Douglas of Marion, MT;
daughter Pamela Vrieswyk of Vancouver; 6 grandchildren and 4 great
grandchildren. A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 5 at 11am at Straub’s Funeral
Home in Camas. Burial was private at the Fern Prairie Cemetery. To send
