George
H. Jester
CAMAS – George H. Jester, a Camas resident since 1945,
died of Parkinson’s disease Saturday. He
was 65.
Born Oct. 23, 1922, in Kansas City, Mo.,
he retired from Crown Zellerbach’s bag-shipping department after 32 years.
He was a lifetime member of the Vancouver Elks, a charter
member of the Outbacker’s Trailer Club and was instrumental in forming the
Spare Tired Good Sam and Twin City Rover Good Sam clubs. Other groups he belonged to included the
25-Year Club, the Independent Order of Foresters and the Willamette-Columbia
Parkinson’s Society.
Mr. Jester enjoyed spending time at the beach, where he
built his own cabin.
He and his wife, Virginia, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in May.
Survivors include his widow; a son, Harry Jester of Vancouver; a daughter,
Jeanette Jester of Camas; and two grandchildren.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brown’s Funeral
Home in Camas, with the Rev. Richard Edmundson officiating.
Burial will be in the Fern Prairie Cemetery.
