Anton J. Kaufman
Anton J. “Tony” Kaufman of Camas died Dec. 10, 1993, at Bess Kaiser Medical Center in Portland. He was 76.
Kaufman was born Dec. 7, 1917, in Bluffton, Minn.,
and moved to Camas in 1965. He was a
World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. Kaufman also worked for Lacamas Valley
Milling Co., in Proebstel for eight years and for Pendleton Woolen Mills in
Washougal for 10 years before retiring in 1983. In addition, he also raised chickens on his Fern Prairie farm for 28
years. Kaufman was also a member of St.
Thomas Catholic Church in Camas and the Washington State Grange.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Kaufman
at home in Camas; son David Kaufman of Camas; daughters, Karen Nelson and Mona
Williams of Camas; brothers, Nick Kaufman of Castleton, N.D., and George
Kaufman of Bluffton, Minn.; sisters, Mathilda Schwarts of Verndale, Minn., Margaret
Brown and Dorothy Turchin of Castleton, N.D., Marcella Kopveiler of New York
Mills, Minn., Irene Edwards of Yuma, Ariz.,
Marie Braith of Staples, Minn.,
and Celia Dierks of Wahpeton, N.D.; and grandsons, Brad and Chris.
His funeral was held
Thursday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camas. Burial was at Fern Prairie Cemetery. Straub’s Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
