Gordon E. Lancaster
CAMAS – Gordon E. Lancaster, a lifetime Camas resident, died Tuesday of a sudden heart attack in Vancouver. He was 61.
Mr. Lancaster, a Navy veteran of World War II, was born May 9, 1926, in Camas.
Mr. Lancaster owned and operated Lacamas Machine Works and was a builder and millwright. He was one of the first apprentices in the old Carpenters Union in Camas, which later moved to Vancouver. He was a member of the Millwright and Machine Erectors Union, Local 1857, and a charter member of both the Wildlife League and Fire District 9 in Fern Prairie.
He was an avid fisherman, especially for salmon, and enjoyed hunting deer, elk and birds. Mr. Lancaster and his wife, Marie, were married 33 years.
Other survivors include three daughters, Raye Clift of Goldendale, Ellen Lancaster and Sarah Lancaster, both of Camas; two sisters, Norma Homes and Virginia Harris, both of Vancouver; and four grandchildren.
His sister, Lois Lancaster, died Oct. 3.
His body will be cremated. The graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Fern Prairie Cemetery, Northeast 267th Avenue and Robinson Road north of Camas. The Rev. Ronald Belisle will officiate.
