Inez Merilla MacPherson
A memorial service for Inez Merilla MacPherson of North Portland, a former Oregon educator, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Portland Memorial Funeral Home.
She died Sunday in a Portland care center of complications arising from Parkinson’s disease. Mrs. MacPherson was 83.
Born March 12, 1909, in Excelsior, Minn., she moved to Camas, Wash., as a child. Her maiden name was Kreshler. She graduated from Camas High School and attended Monmouth Normal College. As a young woman, Mrs. MacPherson taught in Skamania County for about three years. She later earned her teaching certificate from Portland State College, now Portland State University, and taught fourth grade in Willamina for 12 years. Her husband, John MacPherson, died in 1978.
Survivors include her son, V. Leroy Bush of Portland; daughters, Beverly Shearer of Vancouver, Wash., and Linda Phlug of Wilbur, Wash.; brother, Waldo Kreshler of Vancouver, Wash.; and eight grandchildren. Her son, Ronald Bush, died in March.
Private interment will be in Fern Prairie Cemetery in Camas.
The family suggests remembrances be contributions to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
