 Roy Kenneth Bailie

Funeral services were Saturday afternoon for Camas resident Roy K. Bailie who died Oct. 9, 1986.  He was 74.

Mr. Bailie was born Jan. 16, 1912, in Brooks, Ore., and lived for 35 years in Camas.  He was retired from the Crown Zellerbach paper mill in Camas, where he worked as color boss on the tissue end.

Mr. Bailie was a member of the First Christian Church of Camas, a past master of the Fern Prairie  Grange, a member of the Washington State Grange and National Grange, a volunteer firefighter in the Fern Prairie Fire Department, a member of the 49er Trailer Club, past president of the Golden Crown Club, a member of the 25-year Club, and a logger in Oregon for 20 years.

He was also an accomplished cabinet maker who enjoyed gardening and fishing.  Mr. Bailie also enjoyed being with his family and friends.  He and his wife, Latrell, were foster parents and had 18 foster children.

Mr. Bailey was survived by his wife, Latrell; his son, Al Bailie of Camas; his daughters, Alice Cooney of Aloha, Ore., and Betty Dyck, also of Aloha; his brother, L. W. Bailie of Washougal; his sister, Mildred Grogon of Olympia; eight grandchildren  and numerous nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were Saturday at 2 p.m.  The Rev. James Altfilish officiated.  Burial was at the Fern Prairie Cemetery.

Contributions in Mr. Bailie’s memory were encouraged to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund, the Fern Prairie Grange, or the American Heart Association.
