Michael Allen Platt

Michael A. Platt, owner of the Washougal Barber Shop, died Wednesday from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.  He was 40.

A funeral will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Straub’s Funeral Home in Camas.  Rev. Richard Edmundson will officiate.

The body will be cremated.

Mr. Platt, a lifetime resident of the Camas-Washougal area, last lived at 1628 E St. in Washougal.

 Mr. Platt served in the U.S. Army from 1963 until 1966, serving both in Korea and Vietnam.

After discharge from the service, he attended Moler Barber College in Vancouver.  Mr. Platt previously owned and operated Hair Craft by Michael’s in Vancouver.

He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting and camping.

Mr. Platt was also a member of the Smith-Reynolds Post 14, American Legion in Vancouver.

Survivors include his mother, Joan Troxel of Camas, and his father, Victor Platt of Camas; one daughter, Brandy Platt of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three half-brothers, Jerry Troxel of California, Kevin Platt of Pendleton, Ore., and Steven Platt, of Prosser, Wash.; one sister, JoAnne Platt of Camas and three half-sisters, Linda Lehn of Washougal, Judy Lamssies of Portland and Linda Platt of Camas.  Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
