Funeral Service Held for Mrs. Bertha Barton
FERN PRAIRIE – Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha May Barton, who died Tuesday morning, April 14, following a short illness, were conducted by Rev. B. G. Clemans of Salmon Creek, a former pastor at Fern Prairie church of which Mrs. Barton was a member.
Bertha May Libby was born in Taylor county, Iowa, May 11, 1874, and was married on February 3, 1892, to Z. A. Barton of the same community. Most of the earlier years of their married life were spent at Tilden, Nebraska, where five of their children were born. The other two were born in Iowa. They also lived for a time in Oklahoma. In the fall of 1910 they moved from Nebraska to this county and settled in Fern Prairie where they have lived since with the exception of a year or two in Idaho and one year in Washougal.
She is survived by her widower, Z. A. Barton, six sons, Claude E, of Copalis Beach, C. Lester and Alvah V. of Wilder, Idaho, C. Everett of Portland, Albert V. and Eddie M. of Fern Prairie and one daughter, Mrs. Bernice G. Edwards of Nampa, Idaho.
