Obituary
Minerva J. Batten
Minerva J. Batten, a 14 year resident of the Camas-Washougal area, died Jan. 31 at the age of 72 in Portland, OR.
Born in Bonham, Texas on April 27, 1908, she had been a housewife. During her time here, she was a member of the Bethel Community Church of Washougal.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene D. Batten, at home; sons, Charles, James, Douglas and Clois, all of Camas; Bill and Keith of Washougal, Troy of Vancouver and daughters Joy Chadwick of Vancouver; Wanda Box of Corpus Christie, Texas and Dottie Barney of Jacksonville, Fla. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a brother, Ross Freeman of Ivanhoe, Texas and a sister, Mamie Walker of Ravenna, Texas.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 11 a.m. in the Bethel Community Church of Washougal. Burial took place at the Fern Prairie Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Brown’s Stoller Memorial Chapel.
