Olive Clark VanVleet

Mrs. VanVleet Laid to Rest in Prairie Cemetery

Mrs. Lewis VanVleet, whom all old timers in Camas will remember as Olive Clark, died Thursday at her home in Portland and was buried Saturday afternoon in the Fern Prairie cemetery.  Funeral services were held at the Killingsworth funeral home in Portland.

Mrs. VanVleet was born in Burlington, Iowa, in 1880 and came to Camas at the age of 11 years to live with her aunt Mrs. Loisa (Louisa) Watson.  In 1901 she married Lewis VanVleet, son of pioneer residents of Fern Prairie.  For the next five years they lived in Fern Prairie, then moved to Portland, where they have resided since.

Mrs. VanVleet is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Riekman, and a son, Clark, of Portland; a brother, Alfred G. Clarke, Stockton, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Abbie Tanner, Carrier Mills, Ill., and Mrs. Belle Spitler, Santa Rosa, Calif.
